They’re a staple in most Canberra kitchens today but the luxury of a Microwave is still something relatively new.
So new in fact, less than 50 years ago, demonstrations were conducted right here in Canberra to show people how to use the brand new technology.
Held at the old Pauls Home Centre in Phillip, Kate & Nige stumbled across an ad for the sessions in a 1974 edition of the Canberra Times.
Dubbed the ‘Manuscript’, the copy of the newspaper, recently discovered by Lewis from the newsroom, is brought out on the show each week as Kate & Nige delve back into Canberra’s past.
