Two people have been arrested and charged with breaching the peace, following a large gathering in Fyshwick on Thursday night.
Police arrived to disperse the group that had gathered along Canberra Avenue, where the pair were arrested.
Videos posted to social media site Snapchat showed hundreds gathered along the street, surrounding Police vehicles and performing burnouts.
In a separate incident, police also seized three vehicle following illegal burnout activity near EPIC in Mitchell.
In a statement, ACT Police urged drivers to enjoy the Summernats weekend in safety and to ‘keep burnouts to the competition area.’
“Any driver caught speeding excessively, doing burnouts or street racing risks losing their vehicle immediately and faces serious penalties.”
