A cyclist has died after colliding with a tree on Black Mountain Peninsula on Monday.

Police received reports of the man colliding with the tree and coming off his bike at about 11:35am.

Ambulance paramedics arrived at the scene where the 72-yer-old was pronounced dead.

Police have launched an investigation into what happened.

While the incident appears to be non-suspicious, a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The man’s death is considered the first road collision in the ACT for 2022.
