It was fight…or ‘fright’ for residents of the National Zoo & Aquarium on Wednesday, as the cute and cuddly creatures got right into the spirit of the spooky season.
Special Halloween themed treats, helping to both excite and startle curious minds, as part of the animal’s daily enrichment activities.
“Enrichment is a really important part of what we do as part of the care for the animals at the zoo…and it’s really fun for us.” ZooKeeper Olivia Ware said.

It all comes ahead of a special ‘Spooktacular’ Halloween being event at the zoo on Friday night, raising much needed funds for animal conservation.
“Every time we raise money, all the profits go towards a different organisation group, towards a lot of different great causes.” Ware said.
Those funds, distributed through the Zoo’s partnership with the National Zoo & Aquarium Conservation Team (NZACT).
The ‘Spooktacular’ promises plenty of spooky games, scavenger hunts, costume prizes, arts and crafts, delicious treats and of course, endless amounts of candy.
