Aussie rocker Jimmy Barnes has been forced to pull out of next year’s Summernats festival as he prepares to undergo surgery on his back and hip.

Recovery is set to take a few months, before being back to full health by mid next year.

“I’ve been jumping off PA’s and stomping around stages for nearly 50 years, but it’s finally caught up with me.” Barnes said.

That of course means he’ll no longer be able to headline January’s Summernats event but Barnes has confirmed he’ll be back in 2024.

“As much as it kills me to inconvenience everyone, I have to get this fixed so I can jump around onstage for another 50 years.”

In his place, long time mates Jon Stevens, Daryl Braithwaite and Diesel will take to the stage at Summernats this summer.

They join the already announced lineup of Shannon Noll, Bliss N Eso, the Stafford Brothers and Brooke Evers.
