Police have confirmed the death of a person following a crash in Belconnen on Friday evening.
Emergency services were called to the collision along Kingsford Smith Drive in Melba before 6:30pm.
It’s understood the driver lost control of their vehicle before colliding with a tree on the opposite side of the road.
A passenger in the vehicle at the time has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It’s the second fatality on ACT roads in the past 24 hours, after a man in his 20s died in a head-on crash in Woden.
The person’s death brings the ACT road toll for 2022 to 8.
