It’s raining, it’s pouring, The old man is snoring…and the roads a full of holes.

Every corner you take in Canberra at the moment, you’re greeted by a brand new pothole that’s opened as wet weather continues to hang around.

But these gaping hazards aren’t new, potholes have been plaguing the region’s roads for years.

Lewis from the Newsroom recently stumbled upon an 1974 edition of the Canberra Times and inside, on page 2, was a story about potholes along the Kings Highway.

The story reported how more than 2,000 potholes were counted along the stretch of road between Canberra and Batemans Bay.

Almost 50 years on since then and it seems we’re still no better at dealing with the issue, prompting Kate & Nige to launch ‘Pothole Patrol’ during Friday’s show..
