Tucked away in the suburbs of Canberra’s south, this quiet street has been transformed into a fright seeker’s dream ahead of the spookiest night of the year.
From clowns, skeleton pirates and evil pumpkins to a giant red backed spier and a walkthrough haunted house, it’s fair to say the residents of Ammon Place in Kambah have fully embraced the Halloween spirit.
Neighbours Jo Matthews and Linda McNeilly have come together to put on the display known as ‘Dead End Ammon Place‘ which is now in it’s fourth year, made up of four different houses in the cul-de-sac.
“We enjoy it, we like hearing kids and adults scream [laugh] and just dressing up and having fun.” McNeilly said.

While the display’s are already up and ready to be enjoyed, to further get into the spirit, an afternoon of spooky fun and entertainment is being held on the street on Halloween eve this Sunday.
From 12pm the street will be closed to traffic to allow kids and their parents to head down and enjoy some freakish fun and good frights with plenty of lollies being handed out.
“It’s about kids, it’s about a bit of fun, they get to run around, we get to scare them and the parents get to have fun.” Matthews said.
“Honestly, I would give up Christmas for Halloween.” McNeilly said.
